Acknowledging His presence, one page at a time.
Acknowledging His presence, one page at a time.

There is something about the way Jesus taught that has absolutely captured my heart.
He could have spoken in lofty language or hidden truth behind complexity, yet so often He chose seeds, birds, bread, lamps, vineyards and shepherds. He pointed to the ordinary and, with just a few words, revealed something eternal. His words - truthful and deeply moving, were and still are, memorable.
I see Him everywhere. In a water pump or a handful of salt. In a shared meal or a burst of unexpected laughter. In a tear, a sunrise, or a conversation that lingers long after the words have ended. The world is filled with reminders of His presence for those willing to pause and notice.
These pages are simply my own attempt to pay attention.
As a writer and a lover of words, I have been deeply shaped by the parables of Jesus. His words have changed the way I see the world, and it is my hope that these reflections might encourage you to look a little more closely as well.
If, somewhere in these pages, you find yourself smiling, pausing, wondering, or recognizing His presence where you hadn't expected to find Him, then they will have served their purpose.
Welcome to Candlelight Parables.
Let's acknowledge His Presence, one page at a time.
-Susan Rollins

For many of us, those unexpected wakings at 3AM lead to some of the most sincerely close moments with the Lord. He shows us the footprints in the sand - the times He was with us when we may not have noticed. Sometimes, it helps to write it all down, even when it could be by candlelight.

Some thoughts arrive fully formed. Most do not.
Most catch on the thorns. They wander into the weeds, double back on themselves, and stubbornly refuse to become what we hoped they would be. Words tangle and prickle as we search for the deeper message. Writing can be a journey through the brambles before we reach the soothing river. But we persist, we type, we scratch in the margins of coffee stained notebooks and eventually we smile at our written treasures.
With every piece, we discover a little more of ourselves and if we're lucky, we discover a little bit more of Him too.
Each week, this is where you will find my newest ramblings. Some are polished. Some still have a few thorns. I share them with you in the hope that they might encourage you to pause, look a little closer, and perhaps notice His Presence where you hadn't before.
If they bring you a smile along the way, I'll be grateful for that too.
